As television contracts become more lucrative, individual schools, athletic conferences, and the NCAA feel pressure to schedule more games in order to make more money. For example, in the past, football teams played fewer than ten games per season, but the NCAA now allows Division I schools to play twelve regular-season games, plus postseason bowl games.
