In 24 EUGENE ORMANDY April 1952, when the Broad Street Station of the Pennsylvania Railroad was slated for demolition, Ormandy and the Orchestra, on their way to a spring tour, were on the final train to leave the station. ” In accord with his adherence to local involvement, he often used the Temple University Concert Choirs for choral works with the Orchestra. The students, whom he treated as he did the Orchestra members, were somewhat cowed by his presence. At one rehearsal, a young freshman was assigned to play the piano reduction of the orchestra part.

EUGENE ORMANDY international concert was given for the Eucharistic Congress held in Budapest. Joseph Szigeti was guest violinist and Jenö Hubay was host. Eugene Ormandy, conductor of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra at that point, was asked to conduct. ”4 In 1917 Ormandy began his studies in philosophy at the University of Budapest.
